Solar Water Heating
The price of gas and electricity has risen sharply over the last several years, and this has had a direct impact on the cost of heating water.
Solar water heating uses free energy from the sun to heat water in your home. A boiler or immersion heater is then used to further heat this water, and to ensure hot water is available when solar isn’t working (e.g. at night).
Solar heating systems use panels fitted to the roof of your house to collect the suns natural heat. Water is heated as it passes through these panels, and is stored in a boiler.
Modern solar heating is very efficient and highly cost effective. The benefits are…
- Reduces your power or gas bill
- Low maintenance
- May increase your home’s resale value
- Lower your home’s carbon footprint
- Year round hot water
The Department of Energy has announced the Renewable Heating Incentive to provide financial support and encourage the uptake of renewable and low carbon heat technologies like heat solar heating.
